DHVTSU @152 “Soaring Heights, Sharing New Insights” is the theme of the Foundation day held last December 10 and 11 which was also the topic given to the essay writing contest which brought honor to Porac satellite campus.

Four students namely, Paolo Calma, Chriselle Santos, Micah Laxamana, and Julie Cerezo participated in the Tagisan ng Talino 2013 sponsored by the Laboratory High School last December 10. The contests that they participated are as follows: Pagsulat ng Sanaysay/Essay Writing Contest, Dagliang Pagtatalakay/Impromptu Speech.

Santos, a 2nd year Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE) student major in Food Service Management bagged the first place in the essay writing contest. It was unexpected because her coach Mrs. Elizabeth W. Santos informed her that she will compete in the essay writing contest just the day before the contest. The former was hesitant to join the contest, but when Mrs. Santos told her that she knows her capacity, she agreed to join the contest, and was proclaimed the winner.

Paolo Calma, a 2nd year Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE) student major in Food Service Management bagged the 3rd place in Impromptu Speech contest. “DHVTSU in the Eyes of the Society” was the topic given to them. They were given three minutes to expound the topic. Calma expounded the topic by relating it to the national issues that as Honorians, we have to be aware of what is happening in our society.

Micah Laxamana, a 2nd year Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE) student major in Food Service Management bagged the 2nd place in Dagliang Pagtatalakay. The topic that was given to her is the use of Mother Tongue in teaching. Laxamana was able to expound her topic in five minutes. She discussed the program of K-12 and she related it to our mother tongue which is Pampango or Kapampangan.
